Wednesday May 4

Well today we were up and did a trip to villa fraca.
This has the church at on the hill with all the steps and the island crater we visited last year.

We hurried home thinking we had a meeting but it was canceled due to internet difficulties. So we packed up and went out. We headed to the far end of the island. We stopped at several waterfalls.

We stopped at all the gardens along the way, and ended up at the light house. We were going to drive down but a much excited canadian women told us their car was ruined on the road led us to hiking down. We soon passed the car all smoking and stinking either clutch, brakes probably both.
We arrived at the lighthouse and were in on the last tour and tours only happen on Wednesday afternoons.

Built in 1876 it is the oldest lighthouse in the acores. We had a long steep hike out, but unlike the car of the crazy canadians we made it. As we continued our circle we could see the island of Santa Maria out in the distance.

This is the only island we can see from São Miguel. I thought it was only seen from our end of the island, but it is readily seen from here.
We kept on around the island and visited Povocao. This is where the first settlers landed in 1457.
From there we had to hurry home as I had a meeting. Good day lots to see. We love you all.
