Thursday June 30

Today was probably the nicest weather so far this year.. I went for my little walk and I was a little early so we got away for our walk earlier than usual.we see a lot of the same people each time and many shout greeting to us. We came home and after breakfast we decided to drive the long way to Ribeira Grande by way of Lagoa do Fogo. It was perfect.

When we were heading down the other side we encountered the big truck. I turned around and chased it down for some pictures.

We arrived down to ribeira grande with some time left we stopped and sat by the ocean. A motorcycle and sidecar combo passed.

We had the lesson with Dulce, and then made a visit. We returned home ate dinner and had the weekly activity.

We came home tired. We love you all.

Wednesday June 29

Another one of those perfect weather days. We decided to forego the walk this morning as we had district meeting and would be walking some throughout the day. This gave us time to prepare and we were ready early. We walked over to the church and this purple bush is the same one we used each Sunday to take grandma’s picture. It finally is getting flowers and will only fill in more each day until late winter. We had a good meeting then we went for a walk in the garden just down the road.

I am still working on my panoramic pictures, but some are better. We had lunch then needed to head out. We had several people to visit and locate up north 40 minutes away. On the way we encountered a traffic delay, a car burning on the side of the road.

We arrived on time and we had a good lesson. The guy is a Pittsburgh steelers fan.

We located the other address and while the missionaries were visiting there we walked around a little. The sun was setting.

Since our arrival here and especially since we toured inside the lighthouse with Jordan when he was here, I have wanted a night picture of it. Since it was less than 10 minutes away and the sun had set.

Well we headed home. I forgot to mention while driving a rabbit was in the road and with no alternative I ran over it. This is not an unusual event at night and there are many dead rabbits on the road each morning especially in the more rural areas. The missionaries were totally dismayed. They talked about this experience the rest of the journey. To grandma and I it was just part of the circle of life. Hopefully they survive the trauma. We got home after dropping the missionaries in Ribeira Grande shortly after 10:00. Pretty good day. We love you all.

Tuesday June 28

So since I have mentioned the flowers so much, today I decided to show a few. On my walk down three blocks from to the exercise machines and back I got these pictures.

I got a lot more when we went on our walk together. We didn’t encounter many people today so the language training suffered but we got in a nice walk and stopped off at our friend’s souvenir store. All the pretty younger women have boyfriends instead of husbands.  Got a bit of talking there but not much for grandma. We had a teaching appointment out with the elders from Ribeira Grande, and that went well. We took turns reading the verses from a chapter in the book of mormon. Grandma is getting good at reading in português.  We got a ton more pictures and even some video, but if I showed all you would be sick of flowers and quit reading, but there is more. We went back out and got a lot of video while driving down the road. I picked out a couple. I hope you like.
I wanted to put a better one in but it was to long to download and lacking edit skills it is the way it is.
I will try one more time.
It still only let me enter the short ones. The weather was perfect all day but started to rain higher up around 7:00. These are the days you wait for.  We had a good day. We love you all.
