Monday April 13. I sort of stressed out but we got to the bus terminal with time to spare. We are taking a five hour bus ride, but with stops and all it will take seven. While waiting for the bus to leave I walked around. I was wearing white shirt tie name tag and my blue vest with name tag to have access to lots of pockets. Many people stopped to ask me where things or places were located and I helped two ladies go down the escalator with all their suitcases. Gotta be the hair. Good thing we left early. I have too many pictures, but it was a pretty drive.
Everything is so green. We drove through the mountains, grandma at first when I showed her the mountains against the skyline said they were just little hills. She says I always exaggerate but soon she agreed. We drove for three and a half hours and had a half hour for lunch.
Reminds me of the old western shows where the stagecoach stops to eat. We continued climbing and the views were incredible. Lots of green but lacking the three primary colors for an old partial color blind guy, those being deer, elk, and bear. All along the way were small villages truck stops mechanic and tire stores, but so third world country with open fronts. I missed the attempts I made to catch a picture of the fresh produce stands. Just open front lean to with huge banana clusters hanging from roof to ground. The tire places were on dirt floors on dirt turn outs. It was really cool. Hope you enjoy the pictures no particular order. The buses for these trips have two levels. The bottom level the seats turn into a bed and you sleep. The upper level where we were reclines and a leg rest angles out, so much more room than an airplane
Then we entered the city of two million people. What an amazing change. I remember little of my time here 50 years ago but there are tall buildings everywhere and lots more traffic. At the bus terminal wee just used a taxi rather then waiting for an uber. $5.00. We arrived at the hotel and got all checked in then decided to go for a walk and eat. We ate fries at McDonalds and had a bit of a challenge finding our way back. I must not move fast enough to make Google Maps keep up. Did you notice the kitkat fried in a quesadilla type thing? The hotel we are staying at is okay but really old and a bit run down. But since it is just a place to sleep very acceptable. Long day with lots of adventure. Love to all.
