Friday May 1. Today is the National holiday for workers. I thought it was the equivalent of Labor Day but it more of a Socialist holiday showing solidarity. There is even a bit of a Catholic twist. I walked first off then we stayed in.
I was able to keep busy for a while. Then in the afternoon I went out for a walk. I walked down by the mission home and was watching for monkeys and seeing that huge black thing on the tree across the street asked some construction workers what it was. They said it was bees. When asked if it was honey bees or the ones that bite they said the really bad biting one. While I was taking a picture they all stopped and pointed it out to each other and were talking about it.
So many walk around unaware of their surroundings. Still wanting more steps I headed down towards the mall. I had never noticed the view of the temple from this side.
Even though a holiday the temple is open. Here in Brazil the people love to have picnics on the temple grounds.
I continued on down and there must be another concert as the vendors were still out and hundreds of girls were walking around with crazy hair, and black nylons with black shorts. On the way home I noticed a power pole someone had hit and damaged. Here many of the poles are like the old ones I saw 50 years ago made of concrete and rebar like a culvert.
I went back home and cooked dinner and stayed in. Good day to rest up as we had a couple of hard days. Love to all.
