Castles and deer

Well today we decided to take the opportunity to go somewhere new since our time here in Portugal mainland is quickly winding down. Grandma wanted to go see this old castle and so we went. We had never been there before so we found it on google map and set out. On the way there we have to listen to the phone give us directions. The missionaries here refer to the voice as Judy, and she not only tells you where to go but often tells you way before you want to know. Once in a traffic circle I couldn’t tell which exit to take so I circled again. Judy got dizzy so I just guessed and it turned out to be the right choice. She reminds me of someone. Before we arrived there we started seeing all these deer crossing signs so we pulled over and got a picture. But once again they were messing with me ,I saw no deer. Judy did a pretty good job of getting us there and as you can see the castle was amazing. Built in 1263 by or for the knights templar there are a few stories about the place about 2 princesses. The first is about a sheik and his daughter she opened the gate to her christian boyfriend and he carried her and her father off to Portugal. They jumped out of the window to their death. The other princess was rescued by a giant. The window grandma is sitting on the stone bench is where she sat and waited to be rescued. My granddaughters would have beat up the guards sold the prince into slavery and planted flowers everywhere. Our google map called Judy had a little trouble guiding us home but we made it okay.  Before lunch we had a small cake with one candle as today makes one month as missionaries, and you probably didn’t think I was romantic. Do you have any idea how much I work to make a cake?  After lunch we went for a walk and I found a hunting and fishing store called Hunter. I went in and of course grandma bought a skirt but I got some pictures. They do shoot elk and deer here. Look at what they do to an elk head they put flowers on it and hang it up in the ladies section, pretty cool. They had guns,  knifes , noculars, tree stands , shooting sticks , ammo,  boots, packs,  fishing gear and more. Not a cabellas but still fun, grandma said it is my fault she bought the skirt às I went in there in the first place. Grandma just pointed out that the last two blogs weren’t published so I just went and did that. Sorry about that. Meanwhile try to figure out the pictures sometimes they are out of order but I haven’t figured out how to move them around or label them yet. Still a work in progress. I somehow got the camera on the 10 second delay, this is something I wanted to learn how to do, but now I still don’t know how to do it, and I couldn’t turn it back off so some of the pictures were taken holding the camera for 10 seconds. Still in progress. Be impressed I can blog and sort of get the pictures there, thank you Skye. This is way long so more tomorrow.

Beautiful pictures! I love the flowers on the antlers! I think I'm going to have the girls decorate some antlers and sell them on the 4th of July. That is a cool castle! Good job on the cake and celebrating your 1 month anniversary. I am so proud of both of you! I love you!
