First time on our own

Tuesday December 30. We decided to go on an adventure today. Everyone is shutting down for new years so we thought it was a good idea to go by ourselves and travel a bit out of our immediate area. If I get to use all the pictures there are over 80, but some are doubles.

Grandma waiting to board the metro. Because we are over 65 we get to ride the metro and the bus for free. We rode until the last station where we had to leave and ride a bus. We got pictures of the trains themselves and then looking back at the front of the place. They converted the old train station to a metro station.

Across the street from the metro was a huge park. We really like walking in parks. We were traveling to a park further along as google recommended it as a good place to visit, but first we decided to walk around here. I’m going to post a bunch of pictures and then explain them as I struggle getting pictures uploaded.

The little house is 5 gables so I called it the pentagon. The fruit is edible but takes 8 months to ripen, meanwhile it is menacing way up there. Cool trees and  to walk in it is hot. To give it perspective we are the same distance south of the equator as areas in texas, Louisiana, florida. And more plus it is summer here. It is hot and humid. We wandered around looking for our bus stop. I could read the bus number, having a struggle reading the direction we need to go. But hey we got skills the best today is asking directions. The people here are so kind. They help us get the right bus, the driver and the conductor told us where to get off. Waved at us. Shook our hands. We arrived at the huge park. There are approximately 22 million people in the greater sao paulo srea, they weren’t all there but a good chunk of them. Think fair crowds on steroids. Again huge photo drop.

Okay there are gauchos. Huge chair looking thing, cactus, strange bicycle built for 2, grandma with flowers. Some shots from the bus. Two huge tackle shops,(for Caleb), pretty lake grandma waiting in line to use the bathroom for quite a while and the men’s side come right in. As usual the men’s was on the left because women are always right. We were getting tired and hungry so we decided to go home. After a long walk to get to the wrong bus stop, we got on the wrong bus, but they dropped us by the stop to catch a bus back to a metro station where we could catch a train back to the other line we needed to get home. A really nice young lady helped us determine how to go back,  checked with the driver waved goodbye and we were off. Once again they directed us when to get off to get where we had to go. We were at another metro station where we could catch a connecting train. I forgot to mention there are military police in groups all over the place. I asked them for directions several times. Like home everyone was on their phones. After a fairly lengthy ride we arrived back at the starting point. We headed home by way of the store and I cooked fried rice. Good times. Love to all.

Good step count!! It looks so much like San Miguel with a wannabe Washington monument. Skills!

The metro station is cool! Many of the pics look like you could be in Portugal still!
