Tuesday April 14. Today we spent most of our time doing what we came here to do. First we visited a hospital/care facility where they care for people with mental and physical disabilities. Somewhat sad, but they do a good job at it.
Then lunch at a buffet. The food was excellent. The beef hump is really tender seasoned like roast beef I had potatoes which were cooked with it and some rice and beans and potato salad a little green salad. And did I mention cheap. Then it was off to the second visit a hospital. We visited a women's cancer center. We had donated machines that prepare pills and ampules for the patient and 46 pink wheel chairs. Why pink? I guess people steal wheel chairs and this to a large extent stops that. Whatever works. Just as we were finishing up a lady joined us and was excited to tell us she was a member of the church. She spent some time talking with us and the group showing us around. Kind of nice to meet her. We found out the place we are staying at is in a bad neighborhood so we were warned to not walk around so far as we did last night. Before dark we went out and bought water and got a small pizza to bring back for dinner.
The pizza was ok. I have had a rough day. Too much talking and too much listening. Days like this make me wish I would have listened to my mother more and paid better attention in class. Sometimes I wonder if these people really believe I speak Portuguese. Fooled them. Pretty successful day but tiring. Love to all.

From São Paulo to curitiba where we are at is 251 miles. Add in the hour it takes to get out of São Paulo and it is a lot like traveling to the Selway. The drive is pretty but probably not for everyone. Since I was here 50 years ago it has grown to 4 million people.

Megan: i think it’s so cool you got to visit the hospitals and centers
I love the tree with the purple flowers! So beautiful! It’s wonderful that you got to speak with a member and got to tour the hospital.
