We woke up this morning hungry. The last meal we had was breakfast yesterday. Of course we still have nothing to cook and nothing to cook it in. We will fix that today. So at 10 am the elders showed up and we went shopping. By the time we were done 500 euros later ($600) we had food and somethings to cook it in and eat it out of. The branch had a party for us at a park and at 3 pm we got to eat carbs never tasted so good. If there was any justice in the world I would have lost 20 to 30 pounds. So we eat and then we go for a hike. Here everything is either up or down. We headed up. And up. We climbed for about an hour. As we climbed I noticed some deer dropping and the brother leading the pack when asked said they had muitos veados (many deer) like I haven’t seen that road sign before, ( wildlife ahead). So continuing on we climbed numerous switch backs until we arrived at a tower and after we climbed the tower we had quite the view. Turns out that ponta delgado which is the name of the island means narrowest point and we were right next to the place that gave the island its name. We could see ocean looking both ways. I still struggle with the difference in the language but the members aret more than kind Grandma always had two women holding her by the arms talking nonstop. I am not sure if she understood anything but it was fun to watch. They have bamboo groves here. They are lots taller than I imagined. And grow close together they sort of look like that joint grass only 100 feet tall. And the flowers hydrangeasis what Grandma called them. All different colors caused by the different minerals. Did I mention the island is mostly lava rock sort of like Pingree. We headed down a different way and the hmwic (head man what’s in charge) called to me and there was a small deer a doe. So neat. A bit farther a small buck then a huge antlered buck with other bucks of all sizes. The hmwic fed them bamboo shoots and they came right up and I actually petted one on the nose there were dozens of deer. The members hadn’t told me about them to surprise me. We have so many pictures of flowers deer and the rooster (hey hey for kenna) that I can’t show them all. We actually got home late but what a fun time. I still struggle getting the pictures air-dropped and especially downloaded onto my blog. Please when you read it leave a comment and name once in a while so I can figure out who is reading this. The order of the pictures is hard to rearrange and I already posted a blank blogg ne time in only three trys. Every direction is up front m here. Love to all. (About the they look sort of like fallow deer with the spots and all they are small have a black tail and forked antlers, the fallow deer have antlers sort of like a moose so l will have to figure out more).
