Today we get to go home. We had a nice breakfast with the other senior couple who are very outspoken on the office elder who tested positive for Covid-19 not being masked all the time and even being allowed around others. They wear masks outside and in their home. They are so afraid and showed pictures of their grandson on oxygen who got Covid even after being isolated and protected. I mentioned that perhaps people who were so vulnerable should go into complete isolation, and at worse we don’t need to punish the office elder. Also the odds are very high of survival. They were still upset hours later at the airport. We left the hotel grandma and I and had a pleasant trip on uber. But there we had a bit of a glitch. The other missionaries left on a direct flight to são miguel, we flew to Lisbon. It is a short flight like salt lake to Pocatello. Beautiful weather, we were not sitting together but had the whole row to ourselves so I watched out the window.
One thing I noticed is they have windmills like we do at home. They are more spread out, and not as numerous as they are in Idaho. We landed in Lisbon and we have a 4 hour layover. All other times in this airport we were leaving as soon as possible. There still inside the security area is a large area of stores and fast food places. I tried to get us food at KFC, but the noise and strange menu made it difficult to hear or understand. I don’t think it is early onset alsheimers but regardless I excused myself and we ate at McDonalds where I could use a touch screen. The general sensation was more relaxed here than in Porto where we had been turned away from restaurants for no digital proof of test or vaccine. We found some comfortable chairs and read and watched the people. Lisbon is very busy probably the most travelers I have seen since this whole virus thing started. It soon happened and we were on our way. The nice flight attendant moved me to the exit row with more leg room and it was pleasant I got better pictures of Lisbon flying out.
Two hours later just as the light was beginning to fade we arrived.
It was dark as we got tested for Covid and then we stopped at the store on the way home. Once again nice to be back, but we are getting better at this. We sure seem to be the only ones who get all the adventures. The other senior couple were all upset saying the office elder who arranged our travel is incompetent and how they couldn’t wait until he is replaced, I said it’s no big deal, I think it’s better it happen to us than the young missionaries. We can usually handle the difficulty on our own. We had a good day, even talked to lots of nice people. My brazilian mask gets attention and people just want to talk to me. I at times feel like I do at home where everyone knows you. We love you all.

Like going to Cabella’s and everyone approaching you. It probably gets old traveling but at the same time it’s a change of pace and flying is pretty great!
Busy day for you. That was nice of the flight attendant to move you so you could have more leg room. Beautiful views from the windows. I love you guys! Love Ashley❤
