Saturday January 8

Well after a not so restful night it was good to go for a walk. The weather has cooled off about 55 degrees again but not much wind. It has never frozen here, the lowest temperature ever is in the low 40’s. This is why these concrete or rock houses work no insulation required. But they do work as a huge heat sink attaining the outside temperature over time and then slowly changing. This makes them heat up in the summer and stay warm at night. Then cool off in the winter and pretty much staying cool. Grandma is cold so the heater is in whichever room she is in.  It is fun and just a little like living in my tent. I still get a lift each time I read first Nephi 2:15. Seems very similar at times. Meanwhile we headed over to the mall and got some decongestant. Going out on the balcony I took this picture at the start of the blog. Going down to street level I got a picture up close of those tall arching cactus like flowers.
We came home and after a while decided to go out for lunch today. After many trial meals sad to say KFC is still our favorite fast food here on the island.

Tough to beat good chicken. We had to drive the elder who was he only one here from the previous arrival this week to the airport so he could fly out and be replaced by another elder also from Portugal. This took a bit longer than planned but part of the job. After dropping them off at their apartment grandma and I went for a drive downtown. There are still a lot of lights up but we have shown them before. I really like the large balls hanging across the streets. We did find one new to us, a tall palm tree all lit up. I don’t think the picture does it justice.
We made our way home and as it was almost time to be there stayed in. Busy day with a little walking. We love you all.
