Sunday April 3

Today we have conference beginning at 4:00. This is the first day when no one is expecting us nor do we have any need to be up and about. In hindsight I probably should have went for a walk. We listened to yesterday’s conference sessions in English, and there were parts I had missed yesterday. I started this huge batch of scalloped potatoes. I did them as close to the same way as always, but they turned out fantastic. We loaded up and went to the church. We are expecting some visitors and wanted to be there when they arrived. While waiting I took the only picture I took all day, my bad. Conference started and our visitors soon showed up. It was a good meeting. The potatoes were staying warm in our crockpot, and they smelled wonderful. Everyone thought they were bacalhau de nadda. A fish dish with potatoes and wanted to know who had made it. The first person only took my potatoes. Soon everyone knew I had made it and it didn’t have any cod fish in it. A couple of the old gals just tried a teaspoon full but only one rolled up her nose and didn’t try anymore. The rest ate it and had multiple helpings. They ate it all. Several  even wanted the recipe. My cake disappeared and they asked for more. It is good to leave them wanting more. Made me feel good about cooking. I told several that I really enjoyed trying the food here on São Miguel but I was not going to be able to make it like they do, so I did food I knew how to make so they could try it. We had the last session of conference then home and finished talking to everyone back home. Good day. We love you all.
