Farmer’s Market

I loaded these pictures in the apartment and they went wherever. Still a work in progress. Well we looked at our google map app, and found it was taking us too long to walk places.  AWe usually allow 10 minutes to walk quickly to the church, but the app says it is only .3 miles and should take 7 minutes to cover. With this in mind we planned our walk for today to the mercado de graças. A large farmers market only 26 walking minutes away. This market made the top 20 list of things to see and do here on the island of são miguel. On the way we saw a neat park next to some sort of government building.

This is the best mandatory mask usage sign I have seen.

What with some pictures and stopping to talk to people we were 35 minutes walking to the market. Wow what a burst of colors and smells. Flowers and bright fruits and vegetables. One side had souvenirs and a fish section. The smell of the fish section was so strong that even though I wanted to see and tried twice I couldn’t get in there. People were actually going in and buying fish. I’ll bet they were popular with their cats when they went home.

I felt like a tourist when I was looking around and then I saw some tourists come in taking pictures and looking out of place probably like we do.

On our way back we passed a construction crew repairing the cobblestone road. Two guys were relaying the stones one guy was using a jackhammer to loosen the old road one keeping them in sand and the guy in the clean vest watching. Just like home.

Since we were going past the church on our way back so I could add pictures to my last blog we went bt the shopping mall. Bt now it was after 11 am so we had a whopper at Burger King.

We bought the groceries I felt comfortable carrying in my backpack and shopping bag and headed out it only needed a few minutes to update my blog and we went home. Since we had split the whopper I was still hungry and ate breakfast again.

We had an appointment to go with the missionaries to teach Lauuurra and Mauuurra this afternoon then home this evening where l cooked supper. The market was neat with so many kinds of produce and what appeared to be good prices that we may make a weekly trip there. Meanwhile we must go faster. Lots of love.

Why go faster. There is so much to see. Just plan more time.

Sounds like your going to get your exercise with all the walking

You should even consider going slower. There is now hurry and the point is to talk to people and fit in.

Did you buy any flowers for grandma? Beautiful buildings and cool pictures of the road replacement crew, it's kind of cool that the roads there are made out of brick. Love you guys. Love Ashley!
