Thursday August 12. Well today we have a free day so what do we do? We had wanted to visit the city with the most stuff like the Harry Potter movie. coimbrã. We traveled there and after our gps had taken us around the area 3 times we parked the car and headed in. Because of construction and a funeral it didn’t work out like we had hoped. So we ended up taking pictures that we could. First some wanna be characters.
Next some great shots of tall medieval buildings. Notice some of the roofs and recall the dragon chase scenes.
Look at the crazy colors on those roof tiles. A few more shots.

Okay enough Harry Potter. We headed back and Santarém is on the way. Grandma called our friend and we set up a meeting with our friend Maila. We met her at an old Roman ruin. It was great to see her. Once again the gps was confused after all she is a blond. We shut her down and I drove straight there from memory. We had a nice visit and hope to visit again soon. Prayers are sometimes answered in ways we don’t foresee. We drove back to our hotel. A day that could have been disappointing turned out good. I still think I was born to drive in Portugal.
