Going Forward
Wednesday August 4. Today we left for our walk a little early and had a nice walk down town. Because we were early most of the businesses were closed and the people were just getting out. We worked our way through some side streets and headed home arriving back in time to go to the church for language class. I hope it is a benefit to grandma. So after lunch we wrote down the names and addresses of 5 members we wished to locate. We seem to struggle with the map app but where we really struggle is as we arrive getting it to back up to where we can read the address and more important the name of the person we are looking for. I sometimes think we are gaining when it all goes wheels up. The strange part of this story is although we had to travel some side streets to locate the houses we pretty much went the same route we had traveled this morning. We have passed this law office many times but I decided to show it today. They do like to try their English out. We wanted to stop at one small store but as we were about to enter one of his neighboring store keepers came up mad at the tourists who expect everyone to speak English. A bit tense for a minute but after he left the owner on hearing me was kind. I took this picture of the vans as they were changing out plants with one more in bloom in front of a business I had stopped and taken pictures of these flowers before but hadn’t realized they change them out.We were able to locate all 5 addresses with mixed results. One old lady member wanted nothing to do with us and even after pouring on the charm we were told to not come back. Two were addresses of boarding houses where someone usually stays for a month or two. One was a member where the kids asked us to come back later. And the last was a house where a nice man didn’t recognize the name and said he had lived there for 50 years. By his age probably closer to 40 but they tend to exaggerate at times. It was getting hot as we headed home. We have found a route we like to travel home and we pass by the big church with the three different sized bells. Across the street is a statue of Mary they put flowers on, today there were some pretty white with purple centers.
We arrived ate and thought we were scheduled to go with the elders on a visit.and waited in readiness until that time was past when I removed my shoes almost instantly they called ready to go. Curses. We were ready as soon as possible and went to plan the baptism of the little girl in the dress. The other will be baptized next week. Then it was home and off to bed. A fair amount of walking today. Not much perhaps for a young missionary but plenty for a couple of old duffers like us. Love you .

Do people mostly live in apartment buildings or individual homes? Just curious after reading a bunch of your posts…life seems so different there!
Those white flowers with purple centers are very pretty. That's cool that, that girl gets to be baptized, she looks very pretty in her dress. That's also sad about those members, hope you have better luck next time. Love you both! Love Ashley!
