Wednesday September 8

The days are slowly getting shorter. This morning when leaving for my solo walk it wasn’t as light as usual. We waited until about 9:40 to go for our walk that way everything would be open and if we wanted to look at stuff we could. At the start the number of people walking and the traffic was normal, but as we moved more towards the city center it really picked up. We finally went out and walked along the ocean front as the walkways are so wide and since they follow the coastline less elevation changes. We walked stoping occasionally to rest. A huge ship had arrived.
Later I took a close picture of those concrete erosion preventers, they are everywhere and there are uncountable numbers of them.

We went farther than we had been before so we saw a little bit of new stuff. This old ruin with a nice house attached in a really nice neighborhood caught our attention.
We go on until we see the large rock in the ocean that marks the start of the next city.

We sat on one of the benches scattered along the way and watched and listened to the ocean. For some reason the noise and motion are relaxing. We started for home knowing it would take over an hour to arrive back to our apartment. We stopped and took pictures of the blue colored whale tail. It wasn’t there prior to the concert and no telling how long it will remain. Speaking of the concert Ashley asked if there were any violins. There were more violins than any other instruments. The sound system was set up so we could really hear them. They were really good, wish you could have heard them. Back to the whale tail.

This symbol of the whale tail is used a lot. The souvenir stores sell them embroidered on towels and carvings done in lava rock. One town has a huge sculpture of it in the city center Rabo de Peixe or literally tail of fish. Enough info sometimes I think I may turn into a tour guide if I am not careful. More pictures of flowers.

This evening we had our second weekly activity they call family night. It went well and was well attended. The branch president even played his harmonica.
We headed home at 9:00 and it was already dark. The days are  getting shorter. I love you all.
Ashley you are still the best commenter and I love reading them along with everyone’s.

How did the second family night go? Fun or a lecture series?

The new house attached to the ruins is really interesting! Does every new city have huge rocks in the ocean to mark its territory?
