Sunday March 20

Today we were up and ready to go to church as normal. We were there in time to greet everyone as they entered. At first I thought we would be short in numbers, but they kept coming until we had the normal number in attendance.

The strange part is that who is there and those who aren’t changes a lot. After church we came home for lunch with the missionaries. We had a simple meal of rice, chili, and bread and butter. The regular sliced bread here is fantastic. For some reason much better than back home. Also it is one of the few foods that stays good for several days. We next returned the missionaries from Ribeira Grande to their apartment. The ocean is always good to stop and watch. This side of the island gets the biggest waves as it is on the side that gets the most storm affect. This is also why the harbor is on the other side. I stood and watched the waves for a while. I am sure everyone sees them differently. Some see q calming effect, some a sense of adventure, and some probably feel imprisoned by them.

I enjoy watching and it will be one of the things I will miss when we return home. We came back and started calling the family. We had good visits with everyone. Good Sunday. We love you all.
