Thursday July 7

Today we were lazy so we didn’t walk this morning. We had an early appointment and had to leave by 10:00. This member has been regular every week until the last 2 months. We still have weekly reading class with her.

Next we went out to Ribeira Grande to teach 2 lessons. These are a lot of fun. I can’t believe how well they go. On our way to drop the missionaries off at their apartment, there was a police checkpoint. They were stopping cars going both ways, and the car in front of us was just getting their papers back and I was wondering what we were going to need to do. We pulled up and the police officer smiled and waved us on through. God bless America. We came home to pick up the other missionaries and some homemade cookies and drinks then back for our weekly activity. So many of the people here are literally a day away from no food or the car out of gas and no money. The way inflation is going here things could go badly for them.they are gearing up for another holiday or festival, no idea what this one is about but they are building fake castles and such

We had a nice activity then it was home and soon to bed. Not the most exciting day but that is sometimes the life of a missionary. We love you all.

I love the pictures of mom standing by flowers. They are all so pretty. It sounds like the people put in a lot of work into their celebrations. Love, Laura
