Rain

 Wednesday January 14. This morning first thing we attended the temple. It was a nice morning just starting to get hot. We used up the next hour then since we had used up all of our lunch fixing we went out for lunch. We tried some Brazilian food. It consisted of a small steak, rice, beans, farova(ground corn), and a dish like fresh salsa . Oh and fries. I really liked it all.

We shared an order, but the couple sitting right next to us ate the double order meant to feed two people.

We bought some lunch items at the store and then back to work. We worked fast and were not quite fast enough. I knew it was supposed to rain, but my weather forecast said not until 5. We tried to leave at 4, but it was already too late. I guess for here this is normal, but for us it appeared catastrophic. We waited in the lobby for a long time and it sort of let up. We had our rain jackets and two umbrellas so off we went. The street we needed to cross was running water. A lady on the other side was crossing over to our side.she had removed her shoes and next to the curb the water was up to her knees. Amazing. We went over to the bus and metro terminal to get out of the rain. Look at some pictures.

.I then came up with a better idea.we continued on our side of the street as across the street the water was running ankle deep down the sidewalk. We went past our apartment one block and since the slope had .changed to the opposite direction the water was shallower. We crossed the street and were now on the correct side. Cars were struggling with the deep water, but the motorcycles just kept going.

You need to enlarge some of these photos. We were wet from the knees down due to the driving rain. Kind of fun. We ate dinner dried off and went back out to the center courtyard of our complex to a small feira. We were told to check out the cheese guy. We tried several cheeses and grandma brought some expensive cheese that tastes like sharp cheddar cheese. Entertaining day. Love to all.
