Riding the rails

Friday January 9. Before I forget yesterday was 1 month. Today we knew it would be a light day at work so we were prepared. At 10:30 we left on the metro. At rush hours they pack the people in until you can hardly breathe forget about a seat. But during the middle part of the day the crowds are manageable. We rode for two stops and then transferred to a train. The trains and metros are painted so the routes can be named by the color. The metro closest to us is the yellow line and the train is the green line. Our metro stop is just one stop from the end of line. We rode the two stops and switched to the green line which is a train.

We were about midway on the green line so only a couple of stops away from our destination. We were headed to villa los lobos. It is a park in the middle of sao paulo. Fairly large it has bike trails and lots of grass. Basketball courts, huge ferris wheel, climbing tower, and it was hot.

The mini pickup full of green coconut is the garbage from the drink they make in the coconut. Supposedly wonderful sometime we will have to try them. There were quite a few people there but I imagine on the weekends it’s a mob scene. We sat on a bench and ate lunch and lots of people passed by. The little kids were really happy. Imagine being raised in a city this large where you only get to see grass or ride a bike or run up and down hills when they take you to the park. While sitting there two women came by at first I thought it was a baby stroller but there was a medium sized dog in it and the one lady was pushing pretty hard. I tried to get a picture but didn’t want to be too obvious.
We kept walking around until it just got too hot. We retraced our trip, when we boarded the train there was a cart full of peppers sitting in the aisle.

Grandma got some pictures looking out the window. On the train we are above ground, get to see where we are going. Like it was in Portugal people just come up and want to talk. They want to show us where to go tell us all about their lives. Some want to try their few words of English. They are a hoot. More pretty photos at the transfer stop.

As you can see we are back on the yellow line. An older member came up and talked to us. He was pretty excited to see us. He still has two hours of riding to get home. We stopped at Sam’s Club to get grandma some shampoo and they had rotisserie chickens. From previous times I expected them to be amazing, but for almost 8 dollars a little disappointing. We carried our purchases home then back to our work place. One of the young ladies there was coming to help grandma with her hair. I fixed dinner then we walked the young lady back to the metro. It was dark, but still hot. We walk past the temple and it sure stands out. Love to all.

It looks beautiful there. It sounds like so much fun over there too. I love you both!
