Saturday September 4

Being Saturday we have a nice trip down to the ocean front. First I went for my solo walk. It had been raining but now was just gloomy. I returned and as we wanted to arrive after the stores were open we waited until 9:30 to head out right across from the old fort they have been setting up for a concert by an orchestra starting yesterday. They had this modern artsy whale tail. We headed on down stopping in several souvenir stores checking out masks. If we have to wear them we may as well look good doing it. We stopped at a small grocery store where grandma likes the pastries got to load up on them then she decided we should buy some to feed the elders I keep telling her if we keep feeding them they will come back for more but no one listens. Next up to thee farmers market. I needed some hamburger and I have been enough times the butcher knows me and even knew what I wanted. While he was grinding the burger I got a picture of the display case, notice the rabbit the long one with what looks like a chicken leg.

We loaded up on our usual produce and then the popcorn guy. He is crippled in one leg apparently polio but a fun guy I left him a card with the address and time for church and invited him to come. You aren’t fishing if you don’t put a hook in the water. Ince the least changes in elevation are down on the ocean front as well as he nicest sidewalks we dropped back off and went to the beach. We passed the accordion player and I think he was playing a little better, but I didn’t see any money go in the box. Jim may be right maybe he needs a monkey. We headed on towards home and noticed they were really getting serious in the preparation for the concert music stands large boom microphones and lots of lights all inside a built on site clear rigid plastic building with stepped up stage. We decided we might come back in the evening if we had nothing else to do. We arrived home and we had lunch cleaned up and even rested until 4:00 ten we decided to walk back down and check things out. They were testing all the equipment and I asked when it began and not until 9:00. So we went for a walk trying to locate a couple more members. No joy. When we came back there were musicians warning up I have to admit they were very professional we sat on a park bench and listened for a while.

Pretty good. We left for home as were a little tired. We just got home kicked off our shoes and yup the missionaries called and wanted to make some visits with us along. Shoes back on a tie around the neck and we were good to go. Nice visit as we were leaving it started to rain and there were rainbows.

We arrived home and I was tired I checked my step counter 20,389 just over 14 kilometers. (7.8 miles) not bad for an old duffer. The rain had cooled off the night a little so it was nice. Love to all.

Was the whale tale a permanent feature or was it just for the concert? It was definitely artsy and unique! —Denise—

WOW grandpa, I have to run a mile and a half for cross country and I'm burnt out after so you would definitely be able to outrun a bear, or (out walk.) I also love how you call that guy the "popcorn" guy. Also, that is cool that you are friends with the butcher. Love you guys, and it sounds like a fun day. Love Ashley!
