Today the weather was perfect. I finally figured out how to use my step counter and how to measure the distance walked on my iPhone. According to it I walked 6 and a half miles and 14230 steps yesterday and the same distance today with 14600 steps must have had some shorter paces in there. It is kind of cool but I will try not to obsess over it. So I did my solo walk (1 mile) and then we headed out. The walk with thee most level path and the widest sidewalks and where we know where the restrooms are is down along the ocean. We needed to be back at 10:00 so dividing the time in half we set out to walk until our time was used up. We soon were further away from our apartment than usual and started to see new stuff. This anchor was at the yacht club entrance. Biggest one we have found yet. There was a larger ship being turned around by two tug boats. One was pushing against the front and the other was dragging the back around.
Notice those big concrete things that look like jacks in the game girls used to play. They are to prevent erosion and slow up the waves crashing in against the sea wall. We walked along when I noticed this strange structure that had guard towers and barbed wire fences and said that’s a prison. Checking google maps it was the acores territorial prison. It looked closed but was still awesome. We walked home and the rest of the things we saw we have seen and talked about many times. We had language class and did all the normal things for the rest of the day. Sometimes the morning walk is the most exciting thing we do all day. I love you all.

Everything looks so clean in your pictures not that I want to see pictures of garbage it looks touristy Is it windy all the time
That’s a lot of steps/walking! Way to go! Those jack looking things are cool, and it makes sense to help protect from erosion.
I love all the history and unique information you tell us about, like the prison and the erosion protection methods. Thank you! -Denise-
That boat is huge and cool, it reminds me of a cruise ship we saw on the Columbia river on our way to Oregon for girls camp. The anchor is cool too, I love how grandma is peeking out from behind it. Love you both! Love Ashley!
Big Jacks!!!
