Well it just keeps raining. I know it’s not that exciting after all I am living it. We headed for church and things went pretty good. I still have trouble with this accent but it is what it is. We ate lunch then headed out. We had another meeting in the other chapel today at 5:00 and we went over to help clean before it started. I was worried no one who hadn’t been before would show but they came. The family with the little twin girls showed up and the mom said I had taught them to play peekaboo with my hand in front of my face at least they smile at me when I do it.We had a nice meeting and the final tally for the day was81. If we could only get some consistency we could do so much more. We came home and called all the kids. We sure miss them. A few more pictures from yesterday.
The one tree has a train going around it. The sand box has a nativity scene and then figurines of people doing daily chores from the recent past. Remember those cutouts in the park of women working and men dancing and little houses. They are scenes of lifestyle. It loses a little in the translation but they celebrate their heritage. Jim asked what most of the people do here. The jobs are mostly related to the tourist industry. Then there are a lot of city workers cleaning the streets. There is a lot of unemployment. The wages are low and their contracts have to be renewed every few months so it is easy to replace workers if you want and so keep the wages low. The current minimum wage is $729 a month. Many work more than 40 hours a week but you are payed by the month not by the hour. Construction jobs pay is usually part time and pays 25 euros or $30 for a 12 hour day. You only work when the boss needs you but they are ready every day. Some people work 3 part time jobs doing the same work for different companies. At the same time there are people here who have a lot live in really nice homes and others who would be considered middle class. The big limiting factor I think is that we are on an island and there is limited ways to change. Many of the young people want and do leave. But many times this means that everyone and everything is left behind. So some come back feeling that the sacrifices are too hard. Well enough on that. We love you all.

Your right about the younger generation wanting more and trying the rest of world for some I'm sure it works out for them but nice to have family close even if you don't like them every town or village have the haves and have nots
That pic of you with the twins is adorable! I think every Mecham grandchild has enjoyed your enthusiastic peekaboos, especially Carter and John as of late :-)
