Still not quite up to speed and needing to go shopping for mear for today’s young adults activity we left early. Taking one of the young men with us we bought chicken, the strips of meat cut from between the ribs on pork and two types of sausage. We dropped him off at the church then picking up the elders we went to the peaceful pine forest. We set up at the picnic and cooking area then sister Mecham and I had to drive and bring back a nonmember from a nearby town. It was a bit strange. He has a bit of gender orientation going on and has his hair cut in a girlish way, long fingernails painted, sandals with painted toenails, and perfume he must buy by the gallon and wear by the quart. We arrived as they were cooking and having a bit of a struggle with getting the fire going good.
The wood was wet and they were running out of any type of fire starter. They had an axe and dry little. Cubes of wood about 4 inches on each side. I knelt down and split the cubes into pieces about the size of pencils. They had been hammering away at them for a while and sometimes got them to brake into fourths which were still difficult to light Soon the fire was blazing. They thought I was going to cut myself with the ax. The chicken was okay, the rib meat reminded me of really really thick unsmoked bacon, and I didn’t care for either of the sausages although I tried them all. I think with more attempts I could learn to like all of it. We ran off and checked out an apartment for more missionaries in the town with the other chapel. It was really nice. Then back a couple of games of uno and run the nonmember home.
We arrived back and the young man who went shopping with us opened his mission call. He goes to the English mission português speaking.
Everyone was happy for him he is a nice young man. The girls danced. We next had a birthday party to attend. We are now running an hour late. I think it is a normal thing here to just be late. Especially the elder from Portugal. He has no hurry in him and is always stopping to play with cats. Speaking of cats they are everywhere and people feed them and pet them. They are getting to be a bit of a problem. There was a cat trap there in the park.We arrived an hour late at the party in the gymnasium of a school. Some members but more nonmembers. Good food I put aside my shyness and forced myself to talk with everyone.
We had a good time then off to change clothes and the ward weekly activity. It went well, but. I am about activitied out for the day. I was walking or driving a lot. We love you all.

Way to put yourselves out there for the party. I sometimes tend to be an introvert too so I understand pushing past my comfort zone. So cool to be there and watch a young man open up his call :-)
All the food looks and sounds delicious. That is so cool that you got to be there for him when he opened his mission call, it's also very funny and cute that the girls danced for him. Love you both! Love Ashley!
