Saturday February 12

There are starting to be new flowers blooming. This morning we got up and just spent time sitting around. We had tuna sandwiches for lunch and as this was the first time to have them I was surprised to notice they are similar to those at home. My sense of taste and smell continue to improve, yet send different smells and tastes at times. After lunch we went for a drive. Down along the ocean there are some older grain silos they have painted kind of neat.

One of the things I like more all the time is how many colors the buildings and until anything that doesn’t move is painted. At first it can appear that it clashes and I wonder why they don’t try to use colors that compliment the other colors, but this is not Idaho, thank goodness. I am starting to appreciate the narrow streets the colors and the strange driving.

We soon were out in the country with the cows. It is so green. Little hills and cows everywhere. This hill had roads leading around it to the top there was some kind of rock monument looking thing on top, something to check out another day.

There were all these yellow flowers, but grandma says they are those weeds Laura is so allergic to.

There are many dairy facilities where they process milk into cheese and butter and such here is one.

We ended up into the area where the lakes are and turned back. On the way we got the picture of grandma with the flower. We pass lots of large tractors. All of them are large and all are all wheel drive.
We returned home, but soon the missionaries here called to see if we wanted to walk down by the ocean to have a hotdog. We are fasting but we walked down and visited with them. It was nice to get outside and walk. We had a nice break and hadn’t been home long when the other missionaries in ribeira grande called excited about the covid test showing negative. Not many minutes later they called back. They had called too quick and in the allotted time the test had changed to positive. You have to laugh at times. Well a good day to be stranded on an island. If you have to have covid there are worse places. We love you all.
