Thursday February 10

Today I feel good. The joint pain is back to controllable levels, the sneezing is less violent, and the coughing is mainly gone. I went to eat and discovered my sense of taste gone. The first bite sort of tastes then nothing. Then I thought of my sense of smell. Same thing. If this was permanent it would be horrible, but for now kind of interesting. There were things we needed so gearing up we went to the pharmacy, the grocery store, and the farmers market. I wanted to get some test kits to be sure I was over covid, and the elders needed medicine. We stopped at the store and I was back in the fish area and saw some neat looking fish. I especially liked the one with the big lips.

It wasn’t until later that I realized that this area didn’t stink of fish like normal. We stopped at the pharmacy and then headed down to the ocean front and farmers market. The butcher had several rabbits in.
I’m always amazed how they clean them until the meat on the head is still there. We headed back getting pictures of the first cruise ship of the year. There are extreme surge warnings for the continent’s coast the next day or so I am glad to not be on a ship.

We dropped off food and medicine at the elders and l took a test thinking I was over the thing. I was wrong. Guess we still have time in the apartment. For some reason later in the evening I was hungry. The food was good and I could taste and smell at least some. I do get tired easily but I figured there would be some symptoms. Isn’t it amazing that this little virus can get you in spite of efforts to prevent it. The news here had the story of the president of the country who just was over covid. With total control of contacts, 3 doces of vaccine, totalitarian mask compliance he still got sick. His response: we need more masks more vaccines more closures. Seems to be working to me. Meanwhile here we average about 1% of the population of the island a day testing positive. Remember these are people who are counted. For some reason it is quite common here and soon everyone will have had it once and we can begin seeing if any immunity starts. With 150,000 people and over 1500 new cases per day there have only been 2 deaths all over 80 and vaccinated 3 times. I am sure that I am wrong so enough. We spent a quiet evening together. I watched forged in fire for a minute and enjoyed the forced rest. Interesting day. We love you all.
