Saturday January 10. This morning we were up before it got too hot and headed for the feira.
This is in the area between the gates that we have to go through to get in and out of the apartment complex. We caught the bus just down from us on the main street. There was a parking, storage area we walked by and today I noticed this. The tires look familiar and it is grey if I get too lonely I can just visit here and talk to it. We arrived at the feira and I took lots of pictures. They are so colorful. We tried a new fruit, it tasted okay and was more juicy than I thought, but not for me.
The first picture is of cashews, the meat looks a little iffy to me lack of refrigeration makes me not want to try it, however 50 years ago when I was here they had it the same way except the chicken consisted of live birds hanging from a line with their feet tied together and the housewife would buy the chicken carry it home cut their throat in the kitchen sink and it doesn’t get much fresher. The banana area had lots of different kinds of bananas and so many that it has to take a long time to set up and take down. If all the different vendors put them together I would imagine a semi would be needed. We made our purchase and ate a meat pastais. Pretty good.
We went back down to the bus stop and returned home. On the way the traffic stopped for a red light. Pack of motorcycles. They just use the word moto.
We needed a few groceries so we went back out and over to the store. Crazy crocs that some would have to get.On the street we walk every day called deseret Brazil. They have those figurines some of you girls collect. We came home and unloaded all our purchases. Good thing I have a nice backpack. We cooled off it had really hot. At 5 we met up with most of the other senior missionaries and headed downtown to dinner. We traveled by metro having to switch to the green metro and ending up downtown sao paulo avenida paulista. We walked quite a distance to the restaurant.
The bus remained me of the partridge family bus. The restaurant was an italiano restaurant. With singer and a mechanical parrot that made a lot of noise at times. The parrot would crow like a rooster and there were so many of us. The lasagna was fair just a good time.
We were there over an hour then headed home . We were able to catch a bus to save some of the walk. So many people out and about. The brazilians eat and party late. We got on the metro. Good times. Love to all.
