Saturday January 18. It rained most of the night. Today we were invited to go with some of the other senior couples to a different feira. This one was indoors and required a ride on the metro.
Lots of stuff the Americans wanted to get but the prices on produce were more than double. I tend to still rely on paying attention to the route we have taken so I was able to walk directly back to the metro using this huge mirror looking building as a landmark.Next stop was kind of neat for me. 50 years ago I came here with my companion so he could buy a taco at Jack In The Box. We rode buses for 2 hours to arrive here and I saw this tall wedge shaped building called the Italian building.
They have a street market every Saturday and we saw some interesting stuff even a hat that looked a bit like the sorting hat from Harry Potter.
Did you notice the purses using cassette tapes and records in the construction. Next more walking as some wanted to go to the theatre building to get tickets for the symphony. The building is old and rather ornate even having a place for the carriage to pull up under cover to drop off people .
The paintings were on the ceiling. I possed as they do in Portugal one leg raised looking back at the camera. Next we walked along in route to an old building patterned after the Empire State Building.
The sign we stood under says light house which while we were in Portugal was kind of a big thing. We paid $4.00 each and rode up to the floor where you can look out over the city. I would love to see it at night.
Hard for an old country boy to comprehend. And we don’t see a very large part of the city as there are higher viewpoints we hope to visit in a few months after the rainy season. The end of January, all of February and March, and the start of April are the rainy months. It will probably rain every day as it has been doing for a week. We walked back towards the subway or metro and a wooden Indian, and a cathedral were on our route.
Next a fairly long ride, a little grocery shopping on the walk home, and finally home and a really late lunch. Grandma and I were hungry and tired. We watched a movie together and just stayed in. Later I looked out our living room window and thought the lights on the skyline were nice.
Love to all.

Great pictures and a lot of interesting architecture
Good walking day. The area is just so vast. Looking at the size of the city area and comparing it to new your and it is amazing how much area it covers
I didn’t know Brazil had so many buildings. All of them look beautiful. I love you both!
So cool that you were able to see the same area and building from 50 years ago!
