This morning early we drove the elders to the airport. Elder Nelson goes to a new area and elder Teare goes to bring back a new missionary. We have a car. I am not sure how to describe this feeling. We drove out to our favorite park and hiked in to the tower we like. We can look out over both sides of the island and there was no wind. I felt so at peace. We walked on dirt roads covered in moss.Found a private picnic, grilling area. Then we visited the deer. Yesterday was the last day of hunting season back home. I survived. But visiting these guys helps a little.
There is a large tom turkey in their pen and I gave him some corn and told him how popular he could be back home next Thursday on thanksgiving day.We headed back. What freedom we have a car. All other days we are confined in our apartment for hours as we can only walk so far and must save our steps to go to church or to visit members or non members. We stopped off shopping and didn’t have to think about limiting our purchase to 20 pounds so I could get it in my backpack for the long hike home. While there the stores are changing over for the holidays. Cod fish is very much a part of their lives especially at Christmas. The prices go up accordingly.
These big slabs of salted fish will cost almost $50 and the people will eat them all the time as it is one food that doesn’t go bad. Except when feeling a large group one fish lasts a small family several weeks. We came home and I made pizza. I really liked it the first time I made it,but this time it was not as good. The cinnamon rolls tasted ok but they didn’t raise as much as I was hoping.
As the sun was going down we went for a drive down the coast. A lot of people were out. We parked and tried to make contact with a nonmember friend but they were not home. We drove home. What a difference in the day having a car makes. But we must not get used to it as it ends tomorrow night. We love you all.

So glad you had a car to have some relaxing/enjoyable days…you deserve it! When reading about codfish and how it can feed lots of people made me wonder if that was the fish the Savior used to feed the thousand 🤔 🤷♀️ 💕
The pizza still looks good, and those pineapples on top make it look fancy. The cinnamon rolls still look good too. That tom turkey is so cool, how big was he? There are a lot of dear there and their antlers look like moose antlers the way they're splitting. The moss roads look like roads from fairytale movies. Love you both! Love Ashley!
