Even though I know no one cares I got up really early. We needed to leave for the airport at 5:00 so when I woke up at 3:30 I just got up. We were ready and waiting when our ride showed up. Lisbon airport is always busy. They make it difficult to check in as the walking areas all seem narrow which means they are crowded. We self checked in receiving boarding passes and labels for our luggage then worked our way through the masses to check our suitcase. I couldn’t believe there were so many people out so early. Next the line for security which went well. Grandma was hand searched as normal because of her metal knee. We went into the main terminal and because there were no empty seats I led us to a gate boarding area that was completely empty and we sat for twenty minutes. We then boarded a bus which carried us to where our aircraft was waiting. It was a smaller jet with only 2 seats to the side. Grandma was in the front part seated by someone else I was over the wing all by myself. Many rows were empty. When it was time to go they announced that due to mechanical problems we would be delayed. Then shortly they announced that because they had missed their scheduled departure we would be delayed another hour. I was grateful for the extra space now. We finally left and it was a nice flight. I like these smaller planes. We circled out and landed the opposite direction from the one we usually use.
We had to do the COVID test then we bailed the car out of long term parking. When we got home we were starving so I cooked hamburgers and fries. While I was getting that done we unpacked and after eating we had a nap. Grandma had a nap I laid down and rested. We had an appointment at 3:00 so we went over and borrowed the car and picked up Rebecka the daughter of our branch president. We had a young adult activity with her putting handbills on cars at the hospital. There by the hospital is a veterans memorial with the names of the soldiers who died in the war.
Then we went visiting. We really struck out and finally ended up at her grandmas home. She was very nice and talked a lot to us. It started to rain. Really rain. We stayed until a slight let up then I borrowed an umbrella and went for the car. It was not a let up anymore. I had to cross a street and even though it was very sloped the water was running deep. About the top of my ankles. By now I was committed and waded through. I laughed because you don’t get to see this kind of rain in Idaho. Good thing it is warm. We went to the mall as we needed a few things for the weekend. You park under it so we were out of the rain. While we were gone to Lisbon they had put up the Christmas decorations around the whaling boat I think it looks great.
It was really dark when we came out and still raining hard. We ate some barbecued chicken and stayed in. Another day of travel, adventure, and nice people. Also pretty sights. It is really good to be home. We love you all.

The Christmas decorations are beautiful! We're getting some rain but not as much as you and at least it's not snow.
Busy day!!! I’ve told you before, but I love hearing your humor in the blog…the opening line makes me chuckle and miss you!
