Today is p-day. But making a long story short it got messed up. I finally was able to go on my solo walk after nearly a week. The wind and rain have really knocked the leaves off the trees, even the green ones. You need to walk a little careful as they can be slick when stepped on.
There still seems to be a lot of green leaves on the trees so I don’t know if all of them fall off or only part. We ate a late breakfast and waited. I realized how late it was and contacted the elders they were at lunch with the car. Since they had an early evening appointment needing the car we were left here. I hate being cheated out of p-day but I guess we have to get by. It was blowing hard but it was clear and sunny. It would have been a great day for looking out over the ocean and seeing some new sights. We went for a walk. We found a tree that has to be a poinsettia as seen at the start of the blog. All the stores have window displays of Christmas stuff.
The nativity out of burlap is cool and large. We walked through the center of town stopping in several shops. We ended up down on the waterfront at a store that sells fishing and marine stuff.
I looked at pocket knives and ended up buying a Swiss Army knife similar to mine at home. I would have liked to buy a knife unique to here but I haven’t seen anything like that. We came back to the apartment and ate. Not much else to do. From now on we will have the car. The waves were really intense today with the wind and high tide. The wind was actually so bad that we didn’t walk as far as we would have normally. These pictures are of the swimming area and the water is crashing clear over the steps.
We love you all.

Cool Christmas decorations. You'll have to take a picture of the knife you bought. That is funny that you can slide on the leaves, beautiful trees by the way. Those waves are still very beautiful, they're so blue. Love you both! Love Ashley!
I think the red leaves look like roses. Love Angela!
I miss you grandpa and grandma did you slip on the leaves? Love Megan.
The poinsettia tree is really pretty! Remember that there are ups and downs no matter what you are doing in life, but especially when you are away from home and missing your family. You both are doing great and hopefully winter won't be too rough on the islands.
Love,
Pat & Laura
Was Captain Jack shopping for a new knife also I would enjoy watching the ocean every day too I'm guessing leaves falling more because of age than cooler weather maybe wind too I like fall
That burlap nativity is really neat! I love seeing similarities and differences between Portugal and the US 💕
